Protecting Your Plants And Home While SoftWashing

Thursday, June 2, 2022

Summer is officially upon us, and it is the perfect time to maintain a clean exterior while making sure you are not damaging your plants and landscaping. SoftWashing uses environmentally friendly biodegradable solutions to eliminate dirt and kill all different types of organic matter such as mildew, lichen and moss. Gloeocapsa Magma, which is a type of algae that leaves unsightly black streaks on roofs and siding and causes damage to your home and building exterior in the process is also eliminated by SoftWashing. SoftWashing is unlike pressure washing, which uses high pressure to clean exterior surfaces and remove these elements. The process of pressure washing can also kill your plants, trees, shrubs, flowers and grass around your home or business exteriors -- every property owner's worst nightmare! In addition to the SoftWash eco-friendly solutions, we pride ourselves on taking safe and effective plant and house protection measures. We will outline 5 things that we do to help protect your plants and exterior while SoftWashing your home and business exterior.

  1. We Use Tarps

While your exterior is being SoftWashed, most types of smaller plants shrubs and bushes can be protected with small tarps. It is important to note that with scorching hot summer temperatures, the plants can really heat up under the tarp, so we pay very close attention to the weather and temperatures and remove the tarp as soon as the area is cleaned.

  1. We Pre-Spray

In cases where the plants can’t be covered or if conditions are especially dry, we coat all plants, shrubs and trees with plain, fresh water. In our normal process, one person sprays the SoftWash solution, while the second person sprays fresh water on the vegetation. The fresh water will help protect the landscaping by coating the leaves of the plants and trees and immediately rinses away any solution that may have blown onto the vegetation. Plants and shrubs that fall directly below the roof line will be the main focus as well as those close to the siding, which may encounter backsplash from the SoftWash solution. Our technicians are highly trained to ensure that the landscaping is kept continually moist and rinsed of any SoftWash solution.

  1. We Cover Downspouts

In order to catch run-off from the roof, we ensure the runoff does not go into your flowerbeds or on your lawn. If the downspouts runoff does go to these areas, we redirect them away from the area. In cases where a gutter does not have a downspout, a bucket or drum is used to catch the water. Utilizing these two methods, plants, trees and shrubs are protected and it minimizes the amount of solution that can soak into the ground. We will always water down the beds, lawn and vegetation as explained above.

  1. We Apply A Post Treatment To All Vegetation

After we complete the cleaning of your home or business, we apply a post-treatment called Plan Wash. Plan Wash will neutralize any remaining solution that may remain and also adds nutrients to the vegetation and to the ground.

  1. We Are Mindful Of The Weather

While Texas weather can be unpredictable, our team uses extra care when storms are forecasted in the area to ensure that maximum results are achieved, and plants and landscaping are protected.
